Overview

The Monticello Fire Station features best-in-class facilities and a welcoming design that shows pride in the community. The precast concrete structure combines functionality with striking exterior aesthetics and features a display area for their historic 1929 fire truck.

The design was originally intended to include several additions onto the existing fire station building. After some detailed cost estimating, Brunton recommended a new fire station and converting the existing station into a maintenance garage. The City agreed, and as a result, the schedule was shortened and the disruption to operations were far less than the original plan – saving the City significant cost over renovating their old facility.

The new Monticello Fire Station includes many spaces focused on firefighter health and well-being including an emergency operations center (EOC), administrative offices, a large training room, a hose/training tower, 12 apparatus bays, a gear/grid room, a fitness room, a radio room, a SCBA room, a sweat sauna, dirty restrooms and decontamination areas, an emergency generator, and storage rooms. It was also specifically designed to accommodate future growth of the department, with space planned for overnight sleeping rooms and a day room for full-time firefighters.
