Overview

The St. Francis City Hall & Fire Station is the cornerstone of the city’s new downtown corridor. The mixed-use building seamlessly blends form and function with welcoming public spaces, thoughtfully designed facilities, and elegant nods to the city’s heritage.

After years of population growth, both the existing city hall and the fire station could no longer meet demand or house all necessary personnel. The city decided to build an all-new, multi-purpose facility on the site of the previous fire station. Brunton Architects was brought in to conduct site assessments and design the new facility in close collaboration with the City of St. Francis. The result is a standout community asset that sets the tone for all future downtown corridor development projects.

The exterior features a public plaza and a façade of precast panels with brick and stone details that allude to the city’s history. The city hall department includes a large council chamber, a public service counter, and spacious administrative offices. The fire department occupies eight apparatus bays, a secondary emergency operations center (EOC), a combination hose/training tower, SCBA room, day room, bunk rooms, and an ICC 500-rated storm shelter. Bringing the two departments together are shared conference rooms, a fitness room, and support spaces.
