Overview

The Cleveland Public School, which serves grades K-12, badly needed upgrades to its aging facilities. This modern addition and renovation offered a comprehensive solution to their space, functionality, and ADA compliance problems.

A new kitchen features state-of-the-art appliances, surfaces, and systems with an efficient, functional layout, and a mealtime line flow that allows more of the school’s growing student body to eat together at one time. Newly designed band and art room designs inspire creativity with materials, texture, shape, and a connection to the outdoors. And a new STEM classroom, biology lab and Ag-Tech shop promote a range of learning styles and goals. Break-out learning spaces were also incorporated to facilitate small group sessions, one-on-one support, flexible learning, and social gatherings.

Upgrades to the athletics facility rival those of surrounding communities, with a new competition gymnasium, weight room, and locker rooms. Linking everything together is a new lower level commons area. This multifunctional space can serve as a cafeteria, learning space, meeting/presentation room, or gathering space for those attending events in the gym. The wide plan with low ceilings accommodates large numbers while keeping a cozy atmosphere, and the expansive windows provide a welcoming amount of natural light. This flexible, engaging space will help support the school’s changing needs for years to come.
