Project Location - Pine City, Minnesota
The new Pine City Fire Station is located downtown on the previous fire station site. It was important that the new structure be durable and storm resistant. The facility includes precast concrete walls with decorative brick, some form liner finishes, and sandblasted finishes. The design incorporates tinted glass windows above each overhead door to help permit much needed natural light deep into the apparatus bays. In fact, during the daylight hours, artificial lighting is not required to move throughout the apparatus areas. A state-of-the-art hose drying tower, complete with clerestory windows, drain pit, electric hoist, and hose drying studs, was custom designed for drying various diameter hoses. The fire hall consists of over 17,000 square feet while the City’s water treatment facility makes up the balance of the building in the 20,000 square feet tornado resistant structure. The building was constructed for $1.6 million dollars and includes various parking lots for public use and fireman parking near the building’s multiple entrances.
